Out of curiosity, how many of you are looking for moonlacing partners? I mean, you could probably just ask a friend or something, but for the more available, what do you have to offer that makes you stand out from the others who are looking for partners?

I am a Knight of the Round, though I imagine that is long since gone in your time, if it existed at all.

But I'm not from Earth and neither are the Jedi.

Tell me about what the Knights of the Round do?

[galatining]

Well I should say it's the Round Table, I just Knight of the Round for short.

But we serve King Arthur and her interests. And outside of that, we protect the defenseless and do what is right.

Or we did when I was alive. Now I have another Master I serve, though I am their knight as well.

Career changes are complicated.

So you're a Heroic Spirit like Mordred, then? She explained to me about King Arthur and his court. I assume that means you're the same, anyway.

[galatining]

You know Mordred? She really has been just running about. HOw unusually stealthy.

But if she explained yes, it is the same thing. There are also a few others like us here, though not all of them are connected to our legend.

[erranthero]

Yes, I do. She's sweet. Quirky, though.

And I've gathered. I met a man named Arjuna, who is much the same.

Sweet? Well that is an impression she has made.

Arjuna is around as well? There are even more of us than I thought.

[erranthero]

She's been sweet to me, anyway.

And yes! He's also sweet, if a little stiff.

She must have really simmered down. Used to be you couldn't talk to her when we were alive.

that's good. He's always seemed a bit, aloof, though he is a good man.

[erranthero]

Well, maybe she likes me or I've got a way with words. who can say? She's got a lot of energy though.

And yeah, he seems like it. Some sort of hero, like the rest of you, hah.

[galatining]

She definitely has that going for her.

I suppose being a hero does stop being impressive when there are so many of us. Most of us are just here to do a job. Really just like anyone else, you included, I am sure.

What do the Jedi Knights do?

[erranthero]

Jedi are traditionally assigned a solar system to watch over, where they act as guardians and protectors, as well as act as mediators in disputes. We do a lot of the same things that knights in non-starfaring civilizations do, we just do it over a larger area.

These days, we're stretched a little thin, but we still do the same thing. Protect the innocent, smash evil wherever it's found, and fight for stability and prosperity for our people.

[galatining]

A solar system? So not just a country, or a planet, but multiple planets?

I suppose it makes sense that resources would be stretched thin if you are fighting on that many fronts.

[erranthero]

It's a big galaxy, yeah.

But we're just part of it. There are soldiers, too. The Republic Navy and Army.

[galatining]

I suppose that does make it a bit easier.

I assume so anyways.

[erranthero]

Of course. What's a knight without an army to back them up?

[galatining]

Indeed. We didn't fight many navel battles when I was alive though.

Traveling by sea was a perilous affair. Cannot recommend it.

[erranthero]

My entire home planet is covered in water.
But we travel in space, between stars.
We just call it a Navy because starships and waterships aren't all that different.

[galatining]

All of it? So are you all living on boats?

I suppose it really isn't that different. It is strange to think on though, because when I lived, we thought of the space above our world as Aether.

[erranthero]

Oh I imagine it is.

Space is just emptiness filled with occasional bright spots. It's the most dangerous place in the entire universe, but it's also 99.9% of the universe.

To answer your question, no. We travel on something similar to boats, but we live on planets.

[galatining]

99.9 percent. That is overwhelming. I guess if one adds in alternate universes, then it's even more grand.

I suppose living on a planet, would be a correct answer. Is it similar to this world then?

[erranthero]

Some planets.

The one I come from is mostly water. Almost entirely ocean. We live on floating cities.

[galatining]

That's fascinating! I would love to see that sometime!

Though I realize I have just been interrogating you about your world when I am sure you do not want to be a science or history teacher.
