I know it's pretty dismal stuff to announce a grand opening in the aftermath of everything that's been going on lately, but I'm going to try to make it quick and get on to the important part as fast as I can.

I'm Reimi Sugimoto, the owner and manager of Beans! Cat Cafe, on level two of Lunatia. We're a newly-opened combination cat cafe and animal shelter, where you can come to spend time, enjoy a drink, play with our cats, and maybe even take a new furry friend home with you when you go. And right now, because of everything that's happened, we're pitching in to help out as best we can, too.

Now and for a limited time only, you can order your drink with catmallows for a small additional charge, and all proceeds from the catmallows will be donated to the charities working to help the people who've been affected most by the recent tragedy. So please think about stopping by! It's all for a good cause, and they make your drink pretty cute, don't they?


Also, if you're interested in more than just a hot drink and some time with the cats, Beans! is currently hiring new staff. We're mostly looking for servers and people to help take care of the cats right now, but there are a few higher-level positions we're hiring for, too — more on that will be provided on a one-on-one basis for anybody expressing interest.

And finally, even if Beans! isn't quite your thing, please try to find some way to help out the people who need it right now. Going through this sort of thing is...really hard, and you'd be surprised how much even just one person can make a difference to someone in need. Thanks!

Sure! Sometimes animals need to go off on their own and have some time to rest where it's quiet and warm, just like people do. It's important for the cats to know that there's a space for that, where humans aren't just walking in all the time and bothering them.

wow, so cats need breaks from playing together, too........ how can you tell they're stressed out? do prismal cats talk like the hugbugs do?

No, but you can tell by the way they act. When a cat wants to be left alone, it'll go try to find a place for that. And if it's bothered when it's stressed out, then it might scratch or bite. It's things like that.

like how human beings get angry or lash out unpredictably when they're scared..... i see.

you must really know a lot about cats, sugimoto-san.

Haha, I'm actually more of a dog person, honestly? But this was a cute idea, and I thought it'd be a good way of helping out and trying to do some good. So I just tried to learn as much as I could in advance, to make it a success!

ah, you didn't want to make a dog café instead? cats are cute, but i've heard dogs are very friendly.... i think.

They are! But I already have a dog, and I'd hate for him to get jealous! I don't need any other dogs in my life when I have Arnold.

dogs have higher power levels than cats, right? so does arnold help with the café too?

...Um. Power levels? I'm not sure what you're getting at, exactly...

like.... if arnold's strength and speed are better than the cats', he should be able to guard them and keep them from getting lost outside, right? or if his intelligence is high enough, he can make up games for them to play so they're happy.

i guess it's not a guarantee that just cuz dogs are bigger, they're at a higher level, though... but i thought they were super effective against cats.

a cow and some chickens. i touched one once. the cow, i mean. there was a tropical bird..... oh, and one of my classmates had his hamsters there. but he said they were his four dark devas of destruction, so i probably shouldn't call them that.

That sounds like a, um. Pretty unusual place, where you were living last! Was it like some kind of...farm?

it was an island. but there was a small ranch. that's where the chickens were, and then the cow, too.

You mean like a deserted island? Not like a country!

Well, I meant more like...you know, not like how Japan is an island. You mean an island like in stories, where there's no one really on it, and you're stranded. Right?
