What is a watcher?

we are very close, yes. she is a good mother, she has always been protective of me

honestly, that is awful. but it is wonderful to know that you had your family to guide you. i dont have a father

from what he told me, the watchers are the highest demons that watched over humans for centuries.
they went against their creator or some such and came to humans, bed human women, and imparted forbidden knowledge of them.

i could not tell you what they look like. he said they were unfathomable to comprehend to mortal eyes

Then they are true demons, fallen and defying God. They can look like many things, that I have no doubt.

if you mean the christian god, then that would explain my teacher's aversion to them. my kind do not talk about them much, it isn't as if they were true fathers to any of us

at least this world is forthcoming and open to those of inhuman origin. there are other half-demons here, perhaps there are other half-vampires, too.

that much is true and my kind believe in community. we all look out for one another and while youre not exactly my kin

i would like to think of you as apart of my kin, anyway. it should go without saying that being half-human isnt exactly easy

what sets you apart from humans? are you looking to entomb yourself away from them?

By appearance, I don't believe someone would suspect anything right away unless they knew what to look for. I am a bit paler than most, and my fangs are difficult to disguise. My eyes are not a typical color either.

Otherwise, there are many abilities I have that set me apart. I can eat human meals, but I obtain no nutritional value from them. Alas, I must drink blood as a source of food instead.

i hate to admit that i'm a bit envious of you. i certainly am not able to blend in so easily.

does that mean the usual? better senses? your strength is that more of a human?

drinking blood isn't completely tragic, though, it is somewhat of a staple for other half-bloods. a worst-case scenario should we exhaust ourselves

Senses, strength, speed. I am able to transform myself into a bat or a wolf. I have some magic I can perform as well.

I am able to control it, yes. And I would never drink from the unwilling.

white hair, red eyes, and fair skin. my name means "white spirit" and my mother had good reason to name me as such

i have to admit, transforming yourself into a bat or a wolf is strange. did your parents teach you magic?

how do you manage controlling it?

I suppose some would find the appearance disconcerting.

My father did. My mother was a doctor and had no sense for magic.

I learned through my father. Nature, I suppose? I was born like this and it's easy enough. Animal blood also helps stave off the hunger.

is it in a vampire's nature to have control, then? have you never experienced being on the brink?

Not always. Most vampires are made by other vampires, not born like I was. Some are left to figure it out themselves, others don't care about control. Then there are some who are not just mere beasts who wish to better themselves.

why?

that is always a guarantee to be killed by humans or others. why not be more covert than that?

There are some vampires who think they are better than humans. That they deserve to rule over them, or treat them as nothing more than cattle.

They're wrong, of course. But as always, those with power think they deserve to do what they wish with it.

its funny, in a way
for all the hatred your vampires have and my kind have there really is no difference in the end

everyone has the same petty squabbles, kings that want more power, and a bunch of idiots that think theyre better than the other because they were born with certain blood
when war erupts and invaders come and take kingdoms, it doesnt really matter

maybe it is a good that you are here, think of it as a reprieve from all of that garbage perhaps you can find a better solution to your aforementioned problem
