[ here's some disclosure: wei wuxian is wasted. ridiculously, hilariously wasted, thanks to the festivities surrounding the new year, and he's feeling fond. a little generous, too. maybe a little too generous?

anyway, this concerns his brother. the younger one, with the deep frown lines. jiang cheng!

wei wuxian has painstakingly typed this message, so please appreciate the effort that it took to write this in his inebriated state. ]

TO ALL THAT I MAY TROUBLE FOR A MINUTE OR TWO!

I humbly present my brother, Jiang Cheng of the Yunmeng Jiang, for your pleasure.

He is a handsome man, ranked fifth most desirable back home, and he is seeking companionship! He works hard, harder than anyone I know, and he is one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. He likes soup, sparring, and small furry animals. His favorite color is lavender, because it brings out the color of his eyes! His swordsmanship is pretty good, and uh, he's very vocal! Loudly vocal, actually, his lungs are very strong. Great if you like that kind of thing!

If any of mine brothers ever did something like this, I would be utterly livid. I cannot imagine that your brother is going to be terribly pleased with you interfering in such a way.

You should not just hand him off to anyone who chimes in, you know. He is a person. Not a piece to be played with on a chess board. You ought to let him have the freedom of making these decisions for himself.

yes, he is a person! a good person who deserves happiness. but sometimes you have to push someone into the water for them to swim, and he won't push himself into this water, so i'm doing it for him!

[What a strange way to put it. She can see he's trying to do what he believes is a good thing, but she still suspects his brother may not necessarily agree. And she wouldn't blame him if he was upset by this interference either.]

I do not believe I was offering mineself. It would be impolite of me to place mineself forward for someone who did not know me. As I am accustomed to betrothals in mine homeland, I should not wish his relationships here to be anything of that sort.

Allow your brother to find his way and to pursue his heart's desires as he wills himself to. Surely he will, at some point, come into that which he adores in his own time.
