The opening of the museum here is enormously exciting, but it also has me thinking about museums at home.

I know there are exhibits about me in at least a few museums - I've never been to see one, because it feels vaguely egotistical to attend an exhibit about yourself? But I've always wondered what sort of things they have to say about me. What parts of my life are worth putting on display for the public.

If there were a museum dedicated to you, what do you suppose would be on exhibit?

I could give the stuff back when I'm done with it...?

I'd want there to be pictures of my father. Big ones. His face taking up a whole wall and his name on every plaque.
goingsoft: (Actually smiles in Italian)

sometimes you gotta build a museum to spite your dad. that's just how it is

Not really, to be honest.

You know how sometimes people's work changes everyone's lives, and yet nobody's ever heard of them because they don't take credit for it? It's a little like that. He deserves for everyone to know what he's done for them.

Oh, I'm sure he'd hate it. It's what he deserves, not what he'd want.

What's the point of a hypothetical museum if you can't use it to make someone miserable, right?

Yeah, no kidding.

Somewhat related, though: I have been to the Kanagawa museum since it's in my hometown and it's actually pretty nice. Although I can only imagine what it'd be like for someone to actually go to their own museum exhibit.

Let's see...

Probably War stories, or scenes about the civil war that came later, or fending off an invasion. I've got some... grandiose people who care about me, so I'm sure the displays would be a lot more ostentatious than I might prefer.
sealeted: (you can see)

[personal profile] sealeted 2020-02-25 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
They definitely do.

I could use a few less parades or statues myself, but... hey, whatever makes them happy. I've never been particularly hard to please, though I consider them more museum-worthy than me, for sure.

Well, the two lovers I left back home happen to be a Roman emperor and a famous Japanese courtesan, so... well, they've got certain tastes, as I said.

Do you know how, um, 'in depth' the museum information on you is?
sealeted: (I'm not)

[personal profile] sealeted 2020-02-25 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I never spent much time in school, relatively speaking, but even I know how detailed literature analysis can be, when it comes to sussing out the author's motives or guiding influences.

But, I've never been to too many museums, either. It could be that's more of a university thing...

So, I'm not totally off-base assuming you're Nakajima?

My teacher was very...

Lackadaisical, I suppose you could call her. We didn't study many novels.

Hakuno Kishinami. Pleased to meet you, Sensei.

I enjoyed her. And class in general. It was a nice, peaceful time.

A museum based on me would likely be dedicated to manga. Or just as an artist, in general. Though a museum with artwork isn't particularly unique.
