This may be too broad of a question to ask, but I've been curious at any rate. I'd like to ask about what your interpretation of "magic" is, and the basic rules of it should it have any or even limitations.

From my understanding based on my own world, there are some limitations, but magic is capable of much in talented hands.

I suppose that also begs the question of what exactly chroma can be used for, as it is in its essence not quite the typical energy source, yet capable of mild magic on its own.

When I think of magic, I think of, say, a wizard shooting a fireball, or an illusion being created. Things that don't have the material components you would normally use to make fire or an image.

Alchemy works with materials, but these materials are usually 'notions'. The essences of things. I'm the notion of a dead author, transmigrated into a physical body.

And yet, all of those would have a source to call upon, at least from what I've been educated on.

I have his memories, but I'm also influenced by what people thought of me and my work, so I'm not an exact match to the living man. It's something I try not to dwell on - existential crises are terrible for my productivity, I've found.

Do you feel like you are your own person?

I suppose I don't.

How would you then identify yourself? Regardless of outside influences. What sort of person are you?

I'm a teacher. That's what I'm most proud of, at least. Teaching and helping people.

No matter who you are based off of, no matter your origins, I think it is best to remember that feeling you have. That feeling is yours.

I do apologize, I hadn't meant for this to become a topic of philosophy and personhood. But it reminded me how, in a way, there are expectations placed upon a person that might be unfair because of their heritage. Your situation is a bit similar.

Bram Stoker, 1890s, one of the most famous books of gothic horror ever written. It's been adapted many times over, though I feel that the original novel's epistolary format makes it stand out from all of its successors.
