[ And a short while later he arrives at Tsurugi Farmstead. Pauses a moment at the door to feel inarticulably white in front of the place in his jeans-and-hoodie combo, then opens it and steps over the threshold.

Simon raps a knuckle back against the frame as he calls out, just for good measure. ] Konoha?

[Though Konoha usually greets her guests eagerly at the door... no one is there this time. In fact, the voice that answers Simon comes from... way in the back of the house’s main room...

From a centaur who is now a petite five foot tall woman awkwardly laying on her back on a pile of cushions on the floor, bare human feet (one brown, one vitiligo-esque pale as if in mimicry of her back left leg’s white sock) stuck out awkwardly with toes curling and ankles rolling as if she’s trying to practice moving them- or reminding herself they belong to her.]

I’m in here- !

[ Simon did in fact bring snacks, although when he follows the voice and finds her, the bags in his hand do drop in priority. He smiles a little, bemused, and sits cross-legged in front of her and her emergency cushion stockpile. She's so little??

The robot thing doesn't present quite the same functionality problems as being jinba'd or un-jinba'd, but having been jinba'd, he can easily remember the feeling of figuring out where your knee or toe is and then losing it, like a sneeze. ]

For what it's worth, they are nice legs.

[They are nice legs. Konoha’s physique has translated over to the human body pretty accurately, so while she hadn’t quite taken into account that if she became human she’d be as comparatively petite as she was to her fellow jinba, her body is the same type, the well-muscled body of a laborer softened here and there by cute face and a bit of womanly curve. Her kimono were all the top-only jinba style, but thankfully she’d bought a sleeping robe a while ago for lady guests unexpectedly staying over, so... she’s decent at least.

And hungry, because even as she laughs a little at the compliment? joke?... her stomach rumbles... and she claps her hands over it.]

Ehe... did you bring snacks?
I only have one stomach now, but-

[Only to comically then clap them over her nose instead.]

Oh, my nose is so dull now that I can’t even tell if Simon brought snacks!

[She should be able to smell them- !]

[ Konoha's dramatic realization is sudden enough to make Simon start, not that that's a high bar. ]

We're good at other things, [ he assures her, warming with amusement as he recovers from the spook of a mildly abrupt thing. And he sets in front of her... a big ol' thing of pita chips — or whatever you'd call what parallel food evolution produced that looks and tastes like them — and a big ol' thing of M&Ms, and drops his elbows onto his folded knees. ]

Sorry, I have to go shopping, but... you know.

[ —he says, almost just reflexively. As if Simon really thinks Konoha has no idea that he perpetually exists somewhere between "competent, self-sufficient adult" and "a cat with a college education". Even outside of his apartment varying regularly in how hospitable it is to organic life. ]

[Simon apparently does not appreciate how shocking it is to suddenly have your sense of smell reduced! Konoha awkwardly rolls over on her side with a wriggle of her strange newly narrow-feeling hip and only two legs, taking her hands off her nose in order to grope for the pita chips. As much as she is going to enjoy them herself...]

Simon, you should come by for dinner more, you need to be eating better!

[Like many of her more "modern" friends... Konoha had legitimate concerns over what Simon was choosing to eat, okay! Don't mind that she's famished and sticking some of those chips in her mouth almost immediately...]

I'll trade you... for these... a bunch of vegetables that are too far away from me to reach right now...

[She'd be being a better role model... if her own cooking was closer to hand... She swears...]

[ Sorry about the small army of modern wo/manchildren, Konoha.

He laughs a little sheepishly when that's her response — which he should have accepted, really — but hey, at least she's into the chips. ]

[ And somehow having been on the other end of the jinba transmogrification spectrum makes it both easier and harder to relate. He has a true appreciation for how different they are, but, well. Can't imagine finding the smaller, more-manageable human form more of a bother than that... maybe she feels wimpy?

While she's going at the food Simon discreetly kicks his shoes off and sets them aside, watching her deal with her new everything-below-the-hips (which look perfectly nicely-sized to his sensibilities).

And then he reaches over and squeezes the pale toes on her outstretched "sock" foot, teasing challenge in his voice. ] Are you gonna lie here all day? You know, the less you move, the weirder it feels.

[Jeez, she hopes her great-great-great-great-etc-grandchildren are more self-sufficient!

Konoha isn’t embarrassed enough to admit the problems she’s having with the new form, though, mumbling it around her mouthful of chips.]

I kept falling over so Gonta plopped me down here...

[But she does know she has to get started, and Gonta was out doing the work for the both of them now, so... sigh. She almost tries to move her legs to get up more properly, but then-

Simon squeezes some toes. Or, no, wait, those are her toes!!! Way too belatedly she pulls the leg in closer with a weirdly ticklish reaction, clutching it protectively and trying to remind herself it was attached, moving all the weak seeming delicate toes with her hands.]

I- I’m going to move! My feet are just so naked and soft...

[She isn’t used to having much sense of touch at all in her hoof, only the frog portion had any sensation and even that was very full in comparison to how many nerve endings that seemed to fire with every step and shift and curl.]

I mean, I grew up with humans I know how feet are I just didn’t think they were this sensitive...

[ Well, Simon empathizes, really.

He's not going to rush her or anything. Toes, am I right?

Even if he maneuvers around to her side, gets up on a knee, and spends a long moment of Konoha's explanation sizing her up with a primal glint in his eye.

...and then slips an arm under her legs, the other around her back, and scoops her up. Granted, with a huff of effort, and he has to put a foot out to stagger forward before he's standing with her in his arms... because Simon is a bit of a noodle and Konoha is a pretty buff five-foot-nothing.

[Why... was Simon looking at her like that? Why wasn’t he saying anything? He... Wait, he didn’t want to mate again, did he? It wasn’t even Iris, was she really so fetching looking as a human- ? No way?

Except then he finally does move, and it seems like he’s about to-]

Uwah, Simon, no, I’m too hea—

[Her protests, instinctually based on her normal perception of herself, all half a ton of herself, die rather abruptly when she buries her face in his shoulder, arms haphazardly thrown around his neck and legs sticking up weirdly in his grasp, which staggers but thankfully doesn’t fall... !]

... vy.

[The rest slips out half-muffled by his shirt, her grip still a bit too tight and unaccustomed to being held this way. How should she... move, hip!]

[ He grins, turns with her in his arms — and readjusts his grip on her legs so that they don't stick up quite as much, but she has short legs, so there's only so much he can do. ]

What if I never get another chance to do this?

[ She feels like Konoha, but all of the Konoha in one place. It's strangely satisfying, actually. ]

[Eight million myriad of gods, he's- Well, okay, he's just turning around but it seems so crazy to her??? Sure, Gonta could lift her in his arms with some effort, but it wasn't a natural or easy position for jinba, who did better hauling their own kind on their back if they were going to do it at all, so Konoha hugs him tighter in instinctual fear of being accidentally dropped even though... okay...

He's probably... got this handled... She can calm down...]

W- Well, you definitely won't, because I'm not touching those weird drinks ever again!

[But... it wasn't so bad to just. Try temporarily. She can admit that. As she still has her face buried in his shoulder and a mild death grip on the back of his shirt, clasping onto one of his arms with a bend of her knees in attempt to rest more naturally in his hold.]

Are... are you sure I'm not still too heavy? Don't hurt your arms...

[ She's a little heavy, and also strangling him a tiny bit, but they're supposed to be doing the opposite of this, anyway. He tips her in his arms, anchoring her weight lower on her back — ]

[ —and he has to bend down a little just to set her foot-first on the floor, not wanting to risk too much distance. He hasn't even seen her try to walk yet. And apparently it's not great, judging by her cushioned little quarantine zone. ]

No, it was an accident...

[Resulting from a cafe in town working in collaboration with a certain Warewolf shop, and a centaur who couldn't read the disclaimer on the menu very well. Oops.

But she stops trying to explain herself when he says he's putting her down, instead stiffening up her hips and legs to try and brace herself, wincing in anticipation and weird sensation (not actual pain), when her feet touch the floor.]

I- If I fall, I'm going to take you with me!

[Because she's still got a good grip on his forearms and doesn't seem to be letting go any time soon.]

[ Well, no further clarification needed. Simon knows all about accidents. The last bit of his pre-Prismatica life was one long accident that started with a literal accident, and now every Moonblessed's life is a series of accidents. Scheduled accidents, even.

He doesn't let go of her, holding her across her back with one arm — side-to-side, now, and he has a foot of height on her when her feet touch the ground. He's angling to take one of her hands, leaving the other one gripping him however she wants... except she's holding onto him for dear life with both arms, so he starts trying to work his fingers out of one of her hands....

The thought what if we'd done it like this, as two humans?? jabs him in the animal hindbrain, and he meets it with a resounding SO UM ANYWAY!!!, tuning back in time to hear her warning. Or... her.... ]

Why does that sound like a threat? C'mon, I had to do it. Hold onto my hands.

[ He valiantly attempted it, when he was in her position.

except when it comes to motivating someone to learn to Legs, gardening isn't as compelling of a carrot-on-a-stick as sex. or, well, it wouldn't have been to Simon. ]

[Is side-to-side better than front-to-front? For learning or for avoiding thoughts about how their bodies were matching up again and if anything had happened like this then Simon would have been the one who knew all the right things to do- ?

Well, side-to-side is fine, then!!!!! She can release just one hand as long as he's going to keep one on her back... and she has a death grip on the other one.]

B- Because it is a threat... !

[But alright, she's going to do it... and she starts to put one foot in front of the other, fighting the instinct to move her legs like she did as a jinba, which... decidedly does not work smoothly with human ones.]
