I need something to occupy me that doesn't require me having control of my body.

Split personality. There's less we have to fight here, so I take control less than I used to, and I'm bored.

I'd take offers to spar but you'd have to run it by the other half first.

Makes for complications. You're aware of each other, but incapable of direct communication... Logic puzzles wouldn't need the interaction. You both share awareness of the same events? Or is it only when one or the other is in control that either one of you is aware of what's going on?

Taking turns on puzzles is an option.

Then you can at least leave him notes to communicate, which is better than nothing.

So, puzzles. Or very slow chess games. Puzzles, puzzles... jigsaw ones? 3D ones? Logic ones? Gives a whole range of 'things' to work with, if you don't mind taking turns. Ask him to read logic puzzles while he's awake and you can have more than one to think about until you're active. All the others can be combined efforts, I guess.

You could also do something crazy like think up scavenger hunts to send him on when he's in control. Then you're along for the ride watching him try to figure it out, if it's the kind of thing he'd do.

Photo scavenger hunt. All you need is a list. All he needs is to take the pictures proving he's seen, done, or witnessed the "hunt."

[ There are things university students may do when bored, and there are things a former millennial may or may not have heard about peers doing. It's like a photographic fetch quest! Games have similar things, really. ]

Logic puzzles are easier to access. Might be an app for that. Library should be a good source for them.
