I'm so sorry to bother everyone again, but... um... I have a question?

[ Connie is himself for once when broadcasting, apparently feeling better and better about showing his true face to everyone. He's holding a bit of stick incense in his hand, absently twirling it. ]

Is there... is there any way to measure how much gold is in chroma? I have... the evil kidnapping foxes, they killed my ferret, and I need her back, but the spell is... it needs a component of incense, charcoal and herbs worth a specific amount of gold, and I'm not sure how to balance that in our... money.

[ He sighs, rubbing the back of his head and kind of getting the stick tangled in it. ]

I haven't actually done this without my master. Do summoning spells even work, here?

[ He really hopes so, he misses Grace a lot. ]

Yeah, I have a spell focus as well, so I haven't thought about it. It's... it doesn't work when it comes to things that are supposed to be worth money. It's the only spell I know that is that tricky, but I guess it's because it's a wizard spell...

My magic has been working fine otherwise, and I could summon and unsummon her as always. She's never died before, so I... don't quite know how to do this.

It sounds like whatever dimensional stuff they use to travel is working right, at least - hopefully that means we'll be able to reach the Feywild, too.

I guess the only real thing to do is try, right? I don't know where you're at with resources or what incense and such actually costs around here, would trial and error be a big waste? Because if it were me, I'd just start with an amount that looks right for at home, and if that doesn't work get more next time until it does.

I-I really hope so. I haven't... I'm not used to being without her, and those foxes threw her in an anti-magic cage and she just... disintegrated.

That's true... but I'm not sure if it goes away when I try the spell, even if it doesn't work? Then I'll have to buy more, and more...

It's my money, I can buy you components with it if I want. What else am I going to do with money but spend it? [ A stubborn pout, but it quickly shifts to a playful smirk. ] Or, if you're going to be insistent, I'm happy to help you earn more instead~

[ He's still getting used to the fact that people are nice to him, even if it's getting easier and easier.

Then they say that and his entire face goes a ruddy brownish-red.]

[ That reaction makes Mayhem laugh. ] I'm teasing you! That is, I'm perfectly fine if you want to go around holding hands or something.

[ He says, trying to joke back even if his cheeks are still very red - but Mayhem's admittance that they had not met many other tieflings makes his smile a little softer. He nods. ]

I didn't... I didn't either, until I came here. I never spoke to one before I met Kairon, and now I know Molly, and you, and Kairon, and Jester... so many, and such good people. Nothing like I was told when I was younger.

Good people... [There's something distant and hard to read in their eyes for a moment, before the usual soft smile returns.] ...Yes, you're right. I haven't met Molly or Jester yet, but...people here don't look at me the same way as at home, either.

Anything is 'good' compared to what my father always told me.

[ He says softly, because he knows quite well that 'good' is subjective these days - even as a lawful good person. ]

I was really scared of not wearing my Disguise Self spell all the time when I got here, but now... people don't care. There are those that are stranger that us. It's... it's weird, but it's nice.

[ Mayhem laughs softly, without much humor. ]

To be honest...what I was taught is that good people aren't a real thing at all, tieflings or otherwise. It took me a long time to realize they were wrong.

But people are nice here, and I really don't think it's all because we get benefits from letting each other close. I guess the gods of this place must choose people who will fit in well.

There are people here that other people would not see as 'good', but they are in other people's eyes.

[ His father would hate Fish, and Fish was the best person in the world to Connie. ]

Do you think that's it? Maybe they take in people that just... need this? Getting close to others, I mean. Even in just trusting ways rather than carnal.

Ahaha, well, I'm not sure I'd go quite that far. I'm fine with how close I am to the people I know at home. [ Just ignore that nervous tension in their voice. ]

But...it wouldn't surprise me if at least they chose not to bless the kind of people who would really take advantage of others' kindness while here, or go around being generally unpleasant to everyone. [ A shrug. ] It's just a theory, but it would explain a lot about the people I've met so far.

[ He hears it (amd knows the tension well) so he backs off a bit, because he doesn't know Mayhem enough to push. Instead Connie nods again, hoping what they said is true.

After all, people who would take advantage of the moonblessings and other things that were going on here would be disastrous. ]

Have you met a lot of interesting people?

Here and there. [ Their tail sways back and forth thoughtfully. ] More performers than I expected, although that might be more related to the kind of people I find interesting enough to seek out.

Maybe they like people with a lot of color? Both literally and figuratively.

Hah! As likely a reason as any, right?

And how about yourself? You seem a little shy for the stage - do you have a vocation of your own besides magic?

Oh, I... I really do not have the stomach for the stage...

[ He'd be a whole mess of panic, honestly. ]

I don't quite know what I would do with myself. Um... I've only had about three years to try things. I guess I know a little about smithing, but I can't really lift the hammer.

Mmm, I'm not much for physical labor myself. ...I guess not everyone's lucky enough to stumble across their passion as soon as they get out. [ Said casually, and then Mayhem remembers that not everyone has to run away from their parents, and quickly amends to ] Ah, out of the house, I mean. Away from home for the first time and all that. You're not the first person to take some time exploring what you like.

I don't think it's for me, either, but that's the only talent I have that's even close to a profession.

[ He definitely ran away from his family. Very much so. ]

Magic is kind of new to me as well, so I'm just... in-between everything right now. Just trying to figure out what my life is.
