I'm so sorry to bother everyone again, but... um... I have a question?
[ Connie is himself for once when broadcasting, apparently feeling better and better about showing his true face to everyone. He's holding a bit of stick incense in his hand, absently twirling it. ]
Is there... is there any way to measure how much gold is in chroma? I have... the evil kidnapping foxes, they killed my ferret, and I need her back, but the spell is... it needs a component of incense, charcoal and herbs worth a specific amount of gold, and I'm not sure how to balance that in our... money.
[ He sighs, rubbing the back of his head and kind of getting the stick tangled in it. ]
I haven't actually done this without my master. Do summoning spells even work, here?
[ He really hopes so, he misses Grace a lot. ]

Are you trying to bring your ferret back to life?
I'd offer you gold, but it sounds like the kind of spell you're using requires a bit of sacrifice and the gold wouldn't be returned, is that correct?
no subject
[ He makes a thoughtful hum before he quickly shakes his head. ]
A-and no, it's not a real ferret? She's more like a spirit that takes the form of a ferret. She can't really die, just go back to her plane when she's killed. So I have to summon her again.
[ He has no idea. ]
...Oh, that's very kind of you, but I do have the gold, it's just that the places here don't take it. I just don't know how much of the components I need to buy with chroma to make it worth the same as the price it asks for back home.
Does... does that make sense?
[ Sigh. ]
Wizard spells are so complicated...

[ we're just gonna... gloss over the part about casually raising the undead. that... that's fine ]
You can't estimate based on how much you'd pay for the stuff in gold? Say if you've got an apple, you'd pay 1 gold but it costs 2 demichroma here, that's a 1:2 ratio. Pretty simple math from there.
no subject
[ It's a little less drastic than raising undead when the ferret wasn't a real ferret in the first place, thankfully. ]
Hmm... that's a good idea, actually. I'm not the best at math, but an apple might cost a copper the most, so I would need a hundred apples for a gold... is that right? Oh, I'm still terrible at math.
[ Good thing that counting with apples is a universal math constant. ]
no subject
If you're not great at math, it'd be easier to find something common in both worlds that costs maybe 1 or 2 gold, some easy number like that. Then you'll know 1 gold = x amount of demichroma.
Best to count in demi I'd say since that's a tangible thing, and easier to wrap your head around than chroma in a way.

This man makes a lot of sense, though, and he tries to think of something that costs as much as a gold.
Then again, things change from place to place, too. He bought a dirk once for seven silver and was confused that it cost two gold in a smaller place.
Money is weird, and he wasn't raised in a way that had him actually dealing with money until very recently. ]
That's true... I should look into that. Do you think this place buys gold? Maybe I can sell the gold, too.

...or maybe I'll get a really big ferret?

Worst case, you've got all the herbs for your cookin' you'll need for the rest of the twelvemoon, fair better case your friend's gained a few ponzes.

[ What do you even do with incense when not using it for magic? ]

Can't say about summoning specifically, but all the magic I've tried has worked fine, so I'd be optimistic about that part. Has she been able to pop in and out normally while she was around?
no subject
[ Wizards are tricky. ]
My magic has been working fine otherwise, and I could summon and unsummon her as always. She's never died before, so I... don't quite know how to do this.
no subject
I guess the only real thing to do is try, right? I don't know where you're at with resources or what incense and such actually costs around here, would trial and error be a big waste? Because if it were me, I'd just start with an amount that looks right for at home, and if that doesn't work get more next time until it does.

[ Like she was Spiderman in Infinity War. ]
That's true... but I'm not sure if it goes away when I try the spell, even if it doesn't work? Then I'll have to buy more, and more...
[ He's... kind of poor. Most he's done is snuggling. ]

[She knows next to nothing about magic, or herbs, or gold, if she's being honest. But she is good at considering alternate solutions to the same problem.]

But for what it's worth, it seemed to work the way it's advertised. The mech I summoned is really the one I was trying for, rather than being a copy or something.
[What kind of assholes would kill a ferret, though?]

If all else fails, there's a guy who sells magic goods to Moonblessed. He may have some kind of summoning materials.
I swear I tagged this, sorry!
[ He sighs and then nods. ]
...I was told a little about that. It might work.
fret (k)not
My offer still stands, though, if it ends up being needed.

[ after being kidnapped and drugged etc. himself, titus did get that the cultists were planning to kill all their victims, but... somehow hearing that someone was actually killed (and a poor ferret, at that!) comes as an awful shock. ]
...But I don't understand. Is there really a spell that... revives the dead?
no subject
[ He didn't quite expect such a reaction about a ferret, but it feels really nice to hear that someone cared that much. ]
They threw her in a cage, but she's made of magic and they were blocking that... so she disintegrated.
[ Pause. ]
Well, there are spells like that, but... she's not exactly a real ferret. She's a spirit.
no subject
...So she had no physical form to begin with...?
Hmm. So to bring her back, you would need to...
[ his voice grows quieter as he runs through mental calculations and combinations of ceremonial orders... it sounds more like he's talking to himself. ]
...gather up the scattered rukh... and if the spark of consciousness...
I wonder. Perhaps a Magi could...
[ and now he's addressing connie directly again!! ]
Exactly how does it work?
The spell you intend to use.
If I may ask.
