[ Cue the video feed, which begins with a way-too-close-up of Prompto's face. What can be seen of his face, which is mostly just his eyes and freckled nose, looks excited as hell. This is sort of an impromptu broadcast, but he can't not share this. This is a big, big moment for him.

Everything is about to freakin' change. ]

Heyaz! It's ya boy, Prompto. [ ......... ] Uh, so, y'know that special magic chalk you can get from the Ware Wolf guy? Oh, shit, is that supposed to be on the DL? A-anyway. I got some of that biz, aaaaand now — well, I'll just let it speak for itself.

[ The video then turns away from Prompto's face and to a chalk drawing on the ground: a near-complete rendering of a chocobo inside of circle. That's it. It's literally just a poorly-drawn chocobo inside of a circle, with a bit of its tail missing. It'd been near completion when he decided to share this monumental moment with everyone he possibly could, and he still holds a piece of the chalk in his hand, ready to finish off the last of the drawing. Let's all beseech the summoning gods to not bring forth a chocobo as disfigured as the one that Prompto drew, but its shape is at least recognizable to those who are familiar with the species. ]

Bam. Check it! If this actually works, I'm gonna be the proud papa of a brand new chocobo! One that's alllll my own! But I'll let you guys ride it, if you ask nicely.

[ Anyway, enough chit-chat, it's time for action!!! As he squats down near the drawing again, the feed catches him drawing the last bit of the chocobo's tail. For a moment that stretches into eons, nothing happens, but then —

There's a flash of light that temporarily blocks out anything from come through on the video, but as it begins to fade, there is the distinct, unmistakable sound of a kweh.

In the center of the crudely-drawn-but-apparently-effective summoning circle stands a majestic, bright yellow chocobo. ]

Holyyyyyyy shit! It actually — a-are you guys seeing this? It actually worked! Holy shit, he — she?? She's beautiful, have you ever seen a more fluffy, sweet, perfect animal in the whole wide multiverse?! C'mere — wait, what am I gonna name it? I gotta name it —

[ ...The chocobo turns and starts to trot away. Bye! ]

— aaaand it's leaving. Okay, uhhhh, leave me some name suggestions, look forward to my 24-hour livestream of chocobo life coming at'chu soon! Crap—

[ And the video feed cuts off as he breaks into a run to catch his wayward son or daughter. ]

Holy shit, it worked. Gladio's been observing, much the same way he does with Prompto's network posts. (Maybe he missed seeing him around the apartment and this is a way of dealing with the fact the baby of the groups all grown up and living away now?) and he flicks on the video shortly after.

...And probably while Prompto's running, he'll be notified of a response.]

Hey- where the hell's it gonna live?

[ Cloud's on his way to the green markets to replace some flowers in his apartment when he could have sworn he heard a very familiar cry. Followed by the sound of large feet padding along the ground in long strides. There aren't many like it, and while he's aware there are others from different worlds that had Chocobos of their own?

This is the first time Cloud's face to face with one! ...for all of half a second as the majestic bird is on the loose and running past him. ]

There's Chocobos here too...-?

[ Aaand there goes someone in hot pursuit. Cloud's eyebrow lift as he tries to wrap his head around the scene in front of him. He hasn't seen the network post that predates this, so he's left wondering how he hasn't spotted one until just now. Shaking his head, the spiky-haired blond finds himself following after Prompto as he attempts to catch up and join the chase, wherever that Chocobo's heading anyway...]

Where'd you get a Chocobo?

[ He asks when he does catch up. ]

[ Whenever Prompto has the time, after having his wild ~~chocobo~~ goose chase hunting down his new feathered friend, there will be a video message waiting for him. ]

Prompto, Gladio has informed me you have summoned a Chocobo.

[ The angle of the video is directed a bit too far upward, which gives a very clear view of a pair of horns sprouting from Ignis' temples as well as a pair of floppy rabbit ears. ]

[ if he says 'it's ya boy prompto' one more time it's grounds for divorce tbh..

anyway, alisaie is out at work at the moment, but she always has her watch available - and her inventory, as well. there are bookshelves behind her, their spines old and worn, and that's definitely mrs. triggleby the old bodice ripper loving prismal herself waving to prompto in the middle distance.

anyway, alisaie lifts a piece of chalk into the frame. ]

You know, I've one of my own, as well.

Holy crow! I love this giant chicken! What a sweetie! And it has a saddle. Can you ride it?

From what world does this Chocobo come from, praytell?

[Kay remembers Prompto talking about chocobos and how they're yellow and not, in fact, chocolate-colored. She's happy that he's able to get a chocobo of his own here.]

Ooh, ooh, name it after a friend who is...a birdbrain! [Get it? GET IT? Of course she's just kidding.]

[ It comes as no surprise that Sandalphon doesn't quite understand some of what Prompto says. Seeing as he owes the guy some aerial photography time, he'd have greeted him anyway, but... ]

I assume such fowl are native to your realm?

[ He's never seen anything like it. ]

[ Sizhui is still very new to the whole communication devices thing, but he does try to at least learn about where they are living now. So he's out and about when--

-- a huge bird (probably panicked by too much noise and everything) almost runs into him. At a glance, he doesn't think it's a monster filled with resentment, so the talismans he throws in its direction (so he doesn't get trampled) are ones of containment, creating something like a cage of energy around the creature without harming it.

Then he carefully approaches, peering carefully. ]

What... are you?

[ What is this wizardry?! It's a weird, yet funny method of summoning monsters... Marie likes it. ]

You got yourself one big, lovely bird! You called it chocobo, didn't you?

Because it's so yellow, do you think Omelette would fit as a name?

And what does a chocobo do, exactly?

[She's watching the whole thing, and then whoa, what is that!! It's like...a strange chicken.]

My, what a cute creature! Catch up, Prompto!

[ Honestly, it was only a matter of time. ]

[ okay, so Billy is watching this and he has a lot of questions. A lot. Like magic chalk? Where does he get it? Does it summon anything you draw? Also is that a chocobo? Like a real chocobo? Teddy would be so jealous.

But the only thing that comes out of his mouth is. ]

[She probably should've waited until AFTER she'd finished laughing to start filming her reply, and yet...]

What about Sweetpea, or Chickadee, or Luna, which is a very moon kind of name to give a bird on a moon.

[ You can bet Urianger is watching this in a rare network appearance. The whole thing sounds suss, it's easy to determine what this kid wants to do and yet it shouldn't work. Things could not just be made out of nothing so when the chocobo appears he gives a small frown. ]

Such a display of creation should not be possible, lack of payment notwithstanding.

Dude, that was insane. [ the summoning? the huge chicken? all of the above, honestly. ]

Did you catch it? Are you really gonna ride it? Don't birds have, like, hollow bones? [ this might be a lot of questions, yes, but it's still only a few of the total questions he has after witnessing this. ]

Y'know, I'd ordinarily argue that my dog Bae Bae is the sweetest, fluffiest, most perfect animal in the whole multiverse... But he's not here right now, and I've gotta admit that your new baby is probably a close second!

[Here, Prompto, have a fairly close-up shot of Pidge smiling and going a little starry-eyed at the chocobo. She's seen them before. He's shown them to her before, even if it wasn't in this place and even if he doesn't remember it. But the sight of one here now is enough to make her smile, anyway.]

Maybe if you can't think of a name right away, you could wait and see what sort of personality the chocobo has and make a decision based on that.

[Hey look, it's this guy again.]

That is certainly an unusual way to summon anything.

[Although he can't deny that it's clearly worked, for all that the newly-summoned chocobo has taken it on itself to run off.]

[ oh no... oh no look at it, it's so cute and fluffy!!!!!!! she's too polite to scream but it's barely contained. ]
