My name is Nyuu, but some of you may know me as Lucy. If I'm acting different, I can explain, um... [She wrings her hands around in her lap.] There's really no other way for me to say this without making it more confusing, but I have a split personality. The one called Lucy is asleep right now.

[As her eyes become downcast, she takes a deep breath.]

This is something I only learned about a year ago, and I'm still trying to figure things out, but I wanted to warn everyone about Lucy. I've heard in the past that she's... [the lump in her throat goes down] She's killed people before.

[A sad sigh as she sags in her seat.]

I swear I have no control over it, but I'll understand if any of you see me as a dangerous liability after this. That's all I had to say.

Yes.

Except we can’t communicate directly with each other, nor can we remember what happens when the other is in control. That’s why I came up with the idea to type notes for each other, giving a basic rundown of what happened while the other was awake.

Please leave a note if she would like to train with me. Assuming she does those things. Considering the way she was when we met, I am not sure her physical body does any real training. Just her vectors, possibly.

I take it you do not recall that she and I met previously?

I don’t remember the encounter itself, but she did leave behind a list with the names of people she met. Which one are you?

And her being a murderer really doesn’t bother you?

And I might not be able to control what she does, but that doesn’t mean I’m just going to stand by. I’d rather warn people than have them caught offguard.

... What would happen when your other personality wakes up? Will this Lucy kill people indiscriminately?

As far as I know, she hasn’t killed other Moonblessed at this point, so no, it doesn’t seem like she’d kill indiscriminately. Still, I worry that could change if someone made her angry enough.

I see... Can she be convinced- or at least talked against killing?

She won't listen to me, I can tell you that. I don't know if she'll listen to other people, but you can try.

Oh wow. I thought she seemed a little cold when I met her, but that's a bit... much.

[On the other hand, she's been fighting since she was fifteen, and her boys for longer.]

Then again, it's not like she's the first person I've known who's killed people. Not even the first friend, depending on how you define these things. Those were pretty extreme situations, though.

You know others who've killed people before? If you don't mind me asking, Kairi, what were they like?

[Perhaps if she heard about other people who killed, she could hazard better guesses for Lucy's motive.]

All types, honestly. From awful murderers who just did it because it would help their own goals to one of the kindest, gentlest people I know, who did it to protect others.

It's... complicated. Like a lot of things.

Protecting others. I've been hearing that's a justifiable reason to kill, but--How can people bring themselves to dirty their hands with blood? Even if it is to protect others, aren't they afraid those same people may look at them differently afterwards since they're capable of such a thing?

[At least, that's what she fears for herself if Kouta ever finds out about Lucy back home.]

Do you know anything about the circumstances of the killings? I'm not going to say that's not concerning, but if it happened out of self-defense or some sort of wartime scenario I think it might be a bit easier to deal with.

I can't remember the killings themselves since our memories are separate, but I do know Lucy tends to wake up when I'm in danger. I recall the fear I felt during those times, but then everything just blacks out.

It might be best to have someone you can trust keep an eye on you and keep you out of danger, then. I’m guessing it’s some sort of protective response, although I have to admit, I’ve never encountered anything like this before.

U-Um, thank you, sir, but I'd rather you not. She can be very dangerous and I don't want you getting hurt.

But I don't want anyone else to get hurt, either. As a police detective, it's practically my duty, pal!

[Zenyatta's voice is soft and reassuring, and quite clearly robotic- not that it makes his sympathy any less earnest.]

We all hang in the balance between harmony and chaos- for you, it seems, the split is more literal. [He hums, thoughtful.] I am sorry you find yourself caught between such terrible extremes. You have no way of communicating with her?

Not directly. The only way we can communicate is through the notes we leave behind for each other on our devices.

Um, I hope I don't sound impudent by asking this, sir--but why does your voice sound so unique?

[Nyuu's time period back home is during the early 2000s, so high-tec robotics still has a long way to go.]

Interesting... then you do have some way of communicating with her...

[But then the thought trails off into a small noise of surprise at Nyuu's question, and before he answers he can't help but chuckles.]
