For those of you who are pet owners - particularly those of cats, what advice do you have for someone whose cat seems to have eschewed their bed in favour of sleeping on your chest and/or face?
Attachment: mute.png
The picture was taken by my best friend who was concerned that I did not immediately answer the door (I was trapped, I didn't want to disturb my cat he seemed so peaceful...)
I have no problems with him in my bed, but it is not a pleasant sensation to wake up not being able to breathe because there is a bundle of cat in the way.
I'm not saying that my cat is trying to kill me, but there have been a couple of close calls. Do I need to bribe him back to his bed? Or is his bed insufficient and he needs another one?

[ unless your cat is contemplating murder? ]
But if you are still having problems, I wouldn’t mind talking to Mute.

So do you think the problem might be that your face is simply too comfortable?

God, I miss my Luna. She was the smartest kitty anywhere ever![Fight her.]
And he's just keeping you warm because he loves you! He sees you as his kitten! You're just gonna have to live with precious kitty nighttime cuddles! You'll miss them if he moves. You'll see.
Luna would sit on my head all the time, I got so good with her sitting there I could even run with her on top of my head!

I think they do it for a sense of comfort. Maybe put something that smells like you in his bed?
no subject
This sounds like a good idea. Perhaps I could put an old shirt in his bed as some sort of lining or blanket.

I put a shirt on a space next to me on my bed and while he still wants to be close he's less prone to pinning my arm all night.

It's actually refreshing to see the esteemed Dragon Knights stuck on something for once.

If you wish him to keep to his own bed, perhaps you could attempt some sort of training? Bribery would certainly be one way to do it.

I'm glad that I'm not alone in this, it's reassuring to find that cats sleeping on their owners is seemingly a universal thing.

I suppose they find it comforting! You could say it's a sign that they trust you. Inconvenient as that trust may occasionally be.
