figured i throw some more into the pot

say you were seeing somebody and they had these secrets
like stuff they never told you
would that be a deal breaker if they ever came up
(guess this goes for people who are the ones with the secrets too)

or what if there was something you wanted to tell someone but weren't really sure how to go about doing it
easy in like all up front or ignore it and hope for the best? 🤔

Oh, it's a romantic holiday that we observe where I'm from. So on February 14th, it's Valentine's Day, which is the day for girls to give chocolates to the boys they like. A month later is White Day, when the boys are supposed to reciprocate to all the girls who gave them chocolate. One month, so that's March 14th.

I mean...is it the sort of secret that they might find out anyway, whether you tell them or not? Because if it is, then it's better to tell them and have some control over how they find out.

But if there's no chance at all that they could ever know, then...that's a little different, I think.

Hey, if it matters to you, then it's not dumb! But you're probably right that it seems like a bigger thing to you than it would be to the people who care about you. That's usually the way things like that go.

I sure did! I woke up to some presents this morning and everything. It was awfully sweet!

Oh, I do that too, all the time! One of my secrets just slips out a lot, when I'm not even thinking about it.

I mean, I guess terrible is sort of in how you look at it? I'm sort of used to it but I can see how it would bother other people.

Hmm, how can I put it? He's the one person who's more important to me than anything. So it's pretty sweet of him to do something like that for me.

And, um...

I think...if they were secrets that hurt the person I cared about, then I would want to know them so that I could help support that person. But I also don't think they should HAVE to tell me all their secrets. So I guess yes, I would want to know? But I would understand if they didn't want me to.

Aw, you're such a charmer! Have you ever had someone in your life that makes you feel like...they're so important, you wouldn't be "you" without them? He's like that.

I mean, it can definitely be hard when it's someone else who has the secret, because your imagination can get a little crazy with wondering what the secret might be, right? But I think, if you care about that person a lot, then sometimes you just have to trust them. And try to tell yourself that whatever it is they're not telling you, their reasons aren't bad, because they care about you too and they're trying to do the right thing.

Aww. Then he must be a really special guy! And I'm sure he thinks the same thing about you too.

Hah! It's kind of funny you say that, one of my friends — well, I think of him as a big brother type by now, but we're not ACTUALLY related — is pretty well-known for getting on here and giving out advice. Maybe he's rubbing off on me!

Actually, I think it's just that I'm still so happy to be able to talk to people at all. For a long time back home I was all alone with my dog...so I guess maybe having a lot of time to think and nobody to talk to sort of paid off? Something like that...
