Hey! This is Max, though probably most of you don't know me. I've been kind of a lurker on here for the most part. But I wanted to ask a question of my own, if everyone's cool with that.

So here goes, I guess:

I know some of us seem to have some powers during our particular moon phase, but I wanted to talk about possible powers you guys might have had before coming here? Back in your own world.

Specifically though, I'm interested in knowing if anyone has any experience with manipulating time, and any possible consequences you know of that came with using that power. First-hand experience or otherwise, either would be useful.

i had a goat named max a long time ago, probably got eaten by darkspawn when we left lothering

anyway where i'm from, magic is more about physical aspects of the world, like nature or the elements or the human body, so i can talk about that. there's been theories and studies done, but as far as anyone knows, time magic isn't possible

that being said, the inquisitor and company evidently did something time magicky not too long ago, so you may get a better answer for that out of them

So you have more people from your world here too?

[Her heart kind of breaks every time she hears this from someone, because what she wouldn't give to have her best friend from her own world here with her. Alas, the multiverse is too cruel.]

That's pretty much the same for my world, too. Science has tried to mess with time but so far there have only been theories. And a lot of fictional stories.

[Except for her own powers, but she's keeping that under her metaphorical hat for now.]

i don't know if i'd say that. so far none of them recognize me as myself, they seem to know a different person in my place.

well, if something ever rips open an enormous magical hole in the sky, maybe their theories will bear fruit too. evidently stranger things have happened.

[Well, he's not wrong about the second part. Probably. But she'd still use her own time powers all over again if she was faced with the same circumstances, wise or not.]

Why would it be unwise?

If science fiction is to be believed, if you change one simple thing, the ramifications can be huge and impossible to rectify.

Simply put, it would not be worth the risk of making one's situation much worse.

Back with my crew, we had a wizard show up round every Halloween. He usually owed money to the mafia. Or the yakuza. Think it was yakuza the last time.

Uh... Okay, I'm familiar with both time travel and stopping time, but I don't know how to do either myself and the mechanics of time travel especially are just bizarre where I come from. I don't even know if you want to hear the explanation.

If there's one thing I'm learning it's that time powers are kind of universally bullshit, so it surprises me there even is an explanation.

Are there any consequences to using those powers where you're from?

Well, the stopping time one is simpler. You have to be a really powerful mage to pull it off, and even if you are it usually tires you out something awful when you do it.

As for time travel... well, just to start, you have to give up your body to do it. And if you don't already have another version of yourself waiting on the other side? Like if you wanted to travel back to before you were born or forward to after you die? You're out of luck.

I didn't really say I needed to know, just that I'm interested in knowing? I mean, if you wanna talk heavy, being taken from our own worlds and winding up here is pretty heavy too. Heavy is a little unavoidable at this point.

Time magic is a very powerful and useful ability. Strategic applications of Haste and Slow can make or break a battle! There are also applications to allow retreading of failed actions, finding the right path.

Skills like concentration also fall under time manipulation and skilled execution of that skill can alter the outcome of serious and tense situations.

So far I have mastered those practices, but I'm always looking for new skills to learn.

anything that comes to mind I'd be interested in hearing about? rewinding time or stopping time or traveling through time... and the mechanics of how it might work in people's worlds, as well as any consequences of using those powers

We travel through time to prevent others from tampering with history, is that kind of what you're asking about? Although it's not really a power, we use a space-time device to do it.

oh that's cool, that's the first I've heard of a device being used. I mean, the first I've heard of it since I asked. sci-fi has plenty of examples of using devices and machines tho

if you're preventing other people from tampering with history, does that mean everyone in your world has access to this device? is tampering with history a common problem?
