Have you ever given yourself a new name?
Or maybe a nickname?
How did you choose it?
Does it have any meaning for you?

I use "Otacon."
It stands for "Otaku Convention." I really liked anime back then.

What is "anime" and "otaku", though?

It wasn't something I had picked, but I was part of an organization that assigned callsigns for sensitive communications.
Mine was "Mercy", likely because of my demeanor as a doctor. I'm still known by it, thanks to the media, but of course my name is Angela so it is nowhere close to being related.
People have called me things like Angie, Ange, Doc— then typical terms of endearment as general nicknames in other languages. They just sort of happen.
Are you looking to find something new to refer to yourself by?
If so, may I ask why?
no subject
Do you ask people to call you "Mercy" here, too? Or do you go by "Angela"?
I got accepted for a job as a performer down in a club in Level 3.
I had a stage name before coming here, but... I'm not so sure about using it. Thinking about changing it.

And so what better opportunity to ensure we fabulous world-hoppers, yea, we MOST MAGNIFICENT of globe-trotters get up to speed on a couple of household names???
As for me, dear!
You could call it a nickname. You could call it a business name, you could call it a brand name! But as a matter of fact, I have, indeed, given myself an additional name - "M-T-T"!
Short for "Mettaton"!!! ☆☆☆
Not quite as rrrrrrobust, no, but it does fit WAYYYYYYY more easily onto a branding logo!!!

... a part of them feels competitive, but most of them kind of feels like they can't compete with this.]
MTT, hm?
I suppose it has a kind of charm. Those three letters together seem pretty cute.
Do you prefer to be called that or "Mettaton", darling?

It was a hard rule for a few years, before we stopped caring about it. My real name's on company patents, and we had a couple local legends in our crew anyhow. But we were so used to the on-base names by then that it pretty much stuck.

I called her Pidgeon, which got shortened to Pidge because... well, I forgot the difference between a pigeon and a magpie.
To my credit, I was six.

Clearly, Ren can never let Pidge live this down. ]

I knew someone back home who chose his own, though. He doesn't go by it anymore, but I'm pretty sure it was the name of a book character.
no subject
Was there a reason to why he chose his own nickname? Honestly, I didn’t choose mine. It was just something that just stuck from when I started performing. But I do choose my actual stage names. I’m thinking of going by a new one.(no subject)

My name stems from the combination of my value of 600 kan during the Muromachi period and the 600 Daihannya sutra scrolls. As well as the fact that I was made by the Nagamitsu clan.
It's a rather suitable name...Daihannya Nagamitsu.
Though if you were to give me a nickname I would not be opposed.
no subject
If you stopped at the first sentence, that would have been so romantic. But my, you sound like a very important person. That name, though... by chance, are you related to those... swords?(no subject)
