She looks like there's some powdered sugar on her nose, her glasses are askew, and her sweater definitely has some chocolate smudges, but hey... at least her rabbit ears are fine? At the very least, she looks determined, like the utter mess behind her isn't fazing her in the slightest. ]

There are others here who celebrate by making their gifts, aren't there? Whether it be Firialia or Starlight or - anything, really. Since we're all ushered away here... or, well - supposed to be? Is anyone truly braving that icy tundra? - either way, since many of us are here, perhaps it'd be helpful to make gifts together.

I imagine those who have just appeared here may not have much in the way of Chroma to buy anything if they have someone close to them here, and there are some of us who are doubtless better with our hands than finances. The villa I managed to rent is far too big for just two people, so I've no problem having a few over if one wishes not to craft alone.

I'm not stepping out into that snow if I can help it. [ She grimaces. ] It's simply not good weather for a desert-dweller.

Viera who are born in the wood don't always live there for the rest of their lives. I arrived in Ul'dah a handful of years ago now.

[ It's a good thing she spent so much time around the Viis on the First. It's not like any of that is a lie...! ]

I'm attempting a cake one of my friends used to make, but I was never the best cook and neither is Princess. We're both a little useless in this respect. My pillows are coming out much better.

Though she's sure there would have been some reaction to viera in Ul'dah some years back, but who knows. Maybe they were better at concealing themselves. I'm no better at cooking, but I did know a "princess" back home who did enjoy it. She'd feed my brother all the time.

Well, Princess is from the Steppe, so I'm not even sure they celebrate Starlight all the way over there. She's usually off with family in Kugane around this time.

[ She sighs, shoulder slumping slightly, though she scratches her cheek afterward. She's not going to deny that she missed her friends and is happy to have Dunya with her... no, that's not true. She would absolutely deny it in public, at least. In private, probably not. ]

And I'm usually taking care of the company... it'll be strange to spend it together, but not unwelcome. Though you said you knew of a princess at home? A true princess or just someone who was very princess-like?

I don't know about the Steppe all too much— but around Yanxia, people did celebrate the shift of season to heavensturn.

[ She's noting her reactions, just filing them away for now. Just a force of habit now, after everything. ]

... she was a real princess. A collective family of nobles that had to go into hiding after their homes were invaded. Last I heard, she'd chosen to become an adventurer and see more of the world.

[ There's a small, warm smile at the memory. ]

Sounds like those tales of the Ruby Princess, though that one lived in the ocean if I recall the stories right. This one lived on the surface, far in the mountains. Maybe you'd know more. The Kojin traders would often speak of the Warrior of Light visiting them.

No, I do not need help. It's coming along just fine. I'm just a messy cook.

I mostly specialize in leather work, smithing, and alchemical crafts, but I can do a little of everything. I've been making cushions out of some plant husks - they're quite soft.

You don't like it? I think the snow is remarkable, having spent my entire life in a desert. Cold, yes. But that's what the warm clothing is for, isn't it?

That's all well and good until you can't cover some parts of yourself. It looks nice and I don't mind watching it fall as long as I'm inside.

Is this your first time seeing it?

It's not, though my first experience wasn't... great. This has been better, so far.

I can agree with you there. My previous experiences with snow and ice haven't been all that good, either. Even if I know I can't repeat those experiences, they're a bit hard to shake.

What possibly could have happened that you would so dislike the cold so? Simply because you are from a desert? I have heard that desert climes can be quite cold as well.

[In truth, there's plenty here that Perne would like to dive into, but talks of winter always come first.]

the desert only gets cold at night when you're already snug in bed
the cold is cold ALL THE TIME
and the ice is everywhere
you can slip and break something if you aren't careful
sand is soft and wont send you crying for a healer if you fall wrong

ive spent enough time in ishgard to know that it's pretty and also pretty deadly
dying from frostbite and all that
i'll give it somewhat of a pass since you can die from dehydration in the desert but not much of one
it's harder to manage

[Things to note: She doesn't like snow and she's familiar with Ishgard. And Perne... who has largely been quarantined for a good deal of her life has never... actually seen a Viera before.

She's pretty certain she would have remembered seeing one before.]

I suppose for one not accustomed to it, it would be rather unpleasant. Whereas I confess that warmer temperatures tend to catch me unawares.

Surely it could be worse, however. We are not lacking in hearths, I should think or appropriate substitutes.
