These posts always made me wonder what kind of civilization I've been pulled into that we all sit around and talk to ourselves until other people do or don't decide to talk back.

Before any of you kind souls tries to gg me on being here, sitting by myself, talking into the post, I'm aware. Your humour is dry. Is social media non-existent where you're from?

Humans all crave interaction all the time, whether they admit to it or not.

It's normal to respond to people you know when they send a message into the void, isn't it?

I spent at least ten years with no one to talk to.

I suppose it makes no difference to me if I am talking to someone or talking to a void.

Humans, and a whole lot of other alies species, are social creatures. We crave connections so we even talk to inanimate objects. I don't know if you ever met people who own a Roomba but you will never guess what happens.

And some people just like attention and do stupid shit on the net or ask for hookups. Infinite possibilities for infinite dumbassery.

I find the network here fascinating to observe. Consider it an anthropological experience. A chance to understand others. You don't necessarily have to engage with them if you don't really want to.

Well, people talk to themselves all the time, right? This isn't much different. And it's more like a broadcast, I think. Like making a special news announcement, but there's the opportunity for viewer participation.
