... Hypothetically speaking, if someone were to look into finding somewhere to y'know. Spar. Train. Keep the rust off their fighting skills in case we get something worse than a sewer full of giant vines trying to swat us like flies for the hell of it. That kind of thing. Is there anywhere around here that would fit that kind of criteria?

What're the chances of half of those Knights they've got posted around here sticking their noses where they aren't wanted? Most of the Knightly types I've come across aren't the type to just nod and let a bunch of people waving weapons around get on with their day without throwing a tantrum.

And if that's the case and the chances are high... whereabouts here are they least likely to go snooping?

Or take the longest to get to. I'm not picky.

I imagine they wouldn't leave well enough alone, same as anything else.

The outskirts of the city might suit your purposes. I'd suggest less accessible rooftops, but their machinery could reach it just as well as someone like me could.

If you're not planning on flying them up there yourself we might get a few extra minutes before they crash the party.

From what I remember, they're mostly around their headquarters, the lower levels and the ports? So avoid those and it'd only be the patrolling ones that'd probably cause the most trouble.

Knights have to train somewhere, so then wouldn't it make sense that there are proper training grounds where they wouldn't interrupt you?

In my experience the beach seems like a reasonable option. I don't think I've seen many of the knights there whenever I've gone there.

I’ve actually been wondering about this myself, but I do doubt that it’s going to be that much of a problem to get something organized. Well, hopefully, anyway. Nothing has given me the impression that this is a particularly authoritarian state or that the government has revolutionary movements to be concerned about, so I’m honestly more concerned about space.

I dunno. People in charge like to stick their nose in and I just want a couple of unbothered hours to make sure I don't suddenly forget how to swing a sword.

Sounds like there's a couple of places that might work. Which is a couple more than I had when I asked so that's pretty good.

Vines that liked hiding themselves in the darkest depths of the sewers, sure. Guess there is a lot of trash down there, technically.

Sure. I'd offer a sign up sheet but I don't have one, so I guess it'll either be on a roof somewhere or down at the beach given that a few people have mentioned it being a good place to spar.

Training? Entertainment? Something other than wandering around finding someone to hold hands with for five minutes so this place coughs up money? Take your pick. The more people there are, the more interesting it is.

I was able to spar with Elric in the park just fine without being bothered.

And he’s a small sixteen year old boy and I’m an adult soldier so I would have completely understood if the Knights had decided to break up our sparring. But they didn’t.

If there are enough people there with weapons that know how to use them, I'd like to see them try to stop any sparring.

But I guess we're not activity out to antagonise anyone, so I'd rather just avoid the whole possibility.

Good to know though. You didn't see any of them wandering around or did they just not care?

Isn't that what a gym is for? Of course, it might be against a facility's rules to not use a training weapon. Which you should be doing anyway.

Sure, if you want to have no idea to do with a real weapon when you have to use it.

So, I'll pass on a gym and just spar outside.

I imagine any open or secluded area could be used for training or sparring sessions. I've yet to read any law that prohibits such activity or that such outings need a permit.

This is a very good inquiry, though. I've yet to begin considering an area for my own training, as I've mostly just been working out in my apartment.

You can start a bar fight at the drop of a hat, but in some places you need literal permission to fight outside not surrounded by breakable things?

I just want to make sure I don't get lazy and then run into a shock when we get swarmed by... I don't know. Mutant birds? Killer fish? Whatever comes after angry plant life.

beach is great and all but i guess it would be nice to have a gym where you're not going to accidentally blast the head off some prismal going for a dip

Buwan's Place? Oh, that place in the lower levels? If Knights are anything like they are back home evading them should hopefully be easy enough once you know what you're doing... but if they know patrol routes that'd be helpful.

I'd rather avoid a blood on the sand situation. Unless, y'know, it's from one of the people fighting. That's kind of inevitable. There's gotta be a quieter part of the beach though? Or an unspoken realisation that avoiding a bunch of people fighting is probably a good idea?

If you are to be fighting a fair bit, spar or not, should you not also invest in befriending those who are gifted enough to alleviate your aches and pains?

I've run through forms at the training portion of the arena and on the beach. I haven't, and can't, exactly spar with live weapons but I imagine those places would be fine.

Depends on the Knight. But they can be really annoying at best, if they're a stickler for their jobs.

Probably. They're set up with a base, and observation points. I'm guessing they act to enforce laws.
