It's hard to describe what I like in a guy. I don't know if I'd ever be drawn romantically to them.

But I do find someone willing to joke around cute, and being where we are is about the only place I'd feel safe pursuing the whole 'friends with benefits' thing.

-easy to talk to and dependable. i wanna know that i can go to them with anything

This is actually quite sweet and I enjoyed reading the other replies as well!
It is certainly a livelier and more pleasant Iris afternoon for it, thank you.

I don't know that I could ever specify physical preferences, really. I'm only glad if someone is healthy, but it isn't a requirement either, because I would try my best to help if they weren't.

But I think that being kind and intelligent help me to connect with someone on a deeper level. When they're empathetic and don't overreact to things too quickly instead of taking the time to think things through. It seems to be a trend that we all want someone "kind" and "loyal" and "caring".

Someone who understands the sort of life I lead and won't try to make me give up my career in favor of a relationship and steady, settled-down life. Not that they would have to accompany me, either. It is often quite dangerous and I'm sure we'd worry nonstop regardless.

Truly, though, everyone deserves to find someone who can find the best in them.
Or perhaps someone who can show them what the best parts of them look like if they don't know it yet themselves.
And be able to take care of one another and help heal whatever wounds life has left them with.

But I think we have similar tastes. At least in values/lifestyle. It's always nice to be friends with someone who enjoys their job and isn't counting down the days to retirement, especially when it's "difficult".

I don't think it's weird at all! Some people really don't have a type or aren't looking for anything specific. You'll know what you like when it happens, I imagine and even then it could be a very broad something that you don't realize right away.

Before I arrived here I had the bittersweet opportunity to say goodbye to the love of my life. I was with her for over 30 years— she taught me many things with much compassion and understanding and stayed with me even when I was going through the hardest of times. I believe there is no one else like her, but I suppose her type is my type.

Loyal, patient, understanding. She was calm and reserved. She had no problem pointing out my flaws and helping me fix them and become a better person. She was, however, completely helpless and dependent on me.. but I liked that. I liked having someone I could protect.

As appearances go, I don’t really care about that as much as I care about who a person is, but she was beautiful. She had no hair, but her cerulean blue eyes made up for what she was lacking.. such as the entire lower half of her body. Her skin was the softest, almost like porcelain. My type is:
1. At least 200lbs of muscle (not glamor).
2. Not looking to traditionally settle down (maybe a dog someday would be fine).
3. Willing to defer to me, has the same values/lifestyle (career military/soldier of any type/etc.), enjoys training and working out, etc.
4. Can deadlift me?
5. Trust is integral. I'm not interested in petty fights and drama and I want a partnership.

Ah...I really should add that to the top post, but I think the damage has been done. Still, it's very interesting! I'm learning that, for everyone who wants a more emotional connection, there's just as many people who are more physically oriented; it's a different ratio to what I'm used to, but people's honesty is refreshing.

I like someone who can keep me out of my own head when I get stuck in there for far too long. Someone who I can laugh with, and who enjoys physical affection. Maybe someone who has respect, or at least won't laugh at my profession? Really though, as long as we get along wonderfully and have a good time, I'll be very satisfied.

As for your own preferences, I can't believe that I barely scrape by the weight and density limit! Here I was thinking that I was rather well-built, but now I feel almost small. Still, in the context of your other preferences, it makes sense! You're a very active sort, it seems.
