Hello, lovelies.
I've a question and your cycle—moon—whatever you wish to call it—is irrelevant.

How you do handle traits you acquire that could potentially be harmful to others, or to yourself? A good example of this might be if you grow horns and don't want to gore anyone who comes near you or sleeps next to you. Another example of this might be if you acquire serpent traits and possibly have some form of venomous accompaniment. Not that I know how that would work.

But you get the point, I'm sure. I'm not asking for any specific reason other than curiosity, so please, indulge me.

I stay away from people. I have someone I trust restrain me if need be, as I'm not the most logical when the effects of my moon are out full-force.

That's interesting. I do something similar. Although, perhaps not the last part. Since you do hide yourself away then, what is it you do for your Chroma levels? Obviously that would suffer if you were to hide for days on end.

I'm lucky enough that my claws retract, so I'm just careful to keep them sheathed whenever I'm not using them. The fangs are a little trickier. I've managed to avoid biting my tongue so far, but I haven't figured out how to make sure it stays that way other than being extremely careful while I'm eating.

I can go into heat. Which can lead to a lot of problems, mostly for me. It can be physically overwhelming and painful.
My late partner was a wolf-snake, so he got big and aggressive. I think he peed on someone once.
A new friend is a stag, and his horns got so big he couldn't actually get out of his home? And damaged his doorways. He was a big guy to begin with, so it was a losing combination...
But yeah, for me, personally, it's nothing. I'm just cute and will roll over and be taken. I don't mind.

Your friends sound like they had a difficult time. Have. I've heard some have difficulty controlling their mental... faculties during the cycles. It doesn't sound like you have anything to concern about there, but your larger friends, was that ever a concern for them?

Self-control is the only real answer. Most everyone in my life has always been weaker than me to the point of seeming frail. The minor changes caused by this moon nonsense are unable to cloud my mind, so there is really no more danger than normal.

I suppose that's an obvious answer. Suppose you come with something that you don't have actual control over. Again, just an example, but say you had wings, but you couldn't actually control them. Or a tail. Something of that nature.

[For the record, Midna has neither of these things and hopes that one starts thinking she does. She'd rather be mistaken for a fungus (as McCree once called her) rather than a winged creature. Maybe. Probably.]

But if I had horns, I'd probably get someone to make some cute horn covers.

Really. Your answer to not goring someone is to have cute horn covers. So you could then gore someone, but look cute while doing so.

I'll keep that in mind if I ever grow horns and someone wants to sleep with me. Now, the downside to this is if you're in a condition where you can't be close to someone, how are you supposed to handle your Chroma level? Just turn into a crystal until the moon cycle passes?

I have not the slightest idea. I don't turn into anything like that, so you'd probably have to check with someone who does. Even then, every experience is supposedly different. I've not heard of two people reacting the same way yet.

Well, I don't bite most of the time, so it's kind of a non-issue. The tail can get a little in the way, but it's yet to seriously injure anybody even when it's a little... energetic.

[The thing certainly has whapped a few people while wagging, though. Maybe even Midna. But, really, Dante can't be expected to care that much.

Other than that? I know how to control myself. Because, end of the day? Control is what's gonna keep people from getting hurt. Even if it's just a stray elbow or a shoulder bump.

But suppose you had something you didn't have some kind of control over? What happens in a situation like that? Is it worth putting someone else at risk when you can't guarantee someone else's safety?

The only way to handle the traits are to use self-control, I'm afraid.
Sometimes as a Sanguis the desire to fight and challenge can be very difficult to ignore.
But we're better than our bestial nature, aren't we?

Some of us may be nothing more than beasts, actually. It's surprising the amount of people I've spoken to in the last few days that have fangs during their cycle. All the same, you aren't the first to call control into the situation. I don't think it's as straight forward as that, though.
